Neither the Duchess of Cambridge nor Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, could attend the high society wedding of Kate Middleton’s close friends James Meade and Lady Laura Marsham on September 14th, 2013 in Norfolk. So Pippa Middleton attended in her sister’s stead. Both Prince William and Prince Harry attended the wedding but both were unaccompanied. It was rumored that the Duchess of Cambridge meant to come, but instead chose to stay home to look after her infant son, Prince George.
Prince William set off for a pre-wedding pub lunch from Lady Laura’s family home at Gayton Hall opposite St. Nicholas Church with his fourteen fellow ushers. The party travelled the five miles to the Dappling Duck pub in a shooting party trailer pulled by a Land Rover.James Meade gave an unofficial speech at the Royal wedding reception of Kate Middleton and Prince William back in 2011. Mr. Meade is the son of equestrian gold medalist, Richard Meade. His bride is the daughter of the eighth Earl of Romney, Julian Marsham. Guests were taken by tractor trailer to the marriage ceremony ahead of the bride. Lady Laura walked to her wedding with her father, Julian Marsham, at her side from his neighboring country estate.
Despite riding in the back of a tractor trailer, Pippa Middleton managed to look sophisticated and stylish in a teal blue dress paired with a jaunty matching hat adorned with a peacock feather. She completed her look with a chunky gold watch, metallic clutch purse, a gold bracelet and a collection of rings ornamenting her fingers. Her dress was designed by Tabitha Webb and clung to Middleton’s toned figure. Pippa wore her hair in loose curls. Notably absent from the event was the socialite’s stockbroker boyfriend, Nico Jackson. Rumors have been circulating that the couple became engaged at a recent holiday to Mustique but Pippa was not wearing an engagement ring at Lady Laura Marsham’s wedding.
Although there was some early morning drizzle, it had cleared in time for the afternoon wedding. James Meade is a friend of Prince William from back in their days at Eton. When Kate Middleton and Prince William split in 2007, Mr. Meade took Kate to the Badminton Horse Trials. After the hour-long ceremony, the newly married couple led the congregation back to the Romney estate from the church, where the reception was held.
