Princess Khaliya has purchased a 1.5 million pound apartment home in Manhattan, amid reports that she has divorced Prince Hussain. Prince Hussain is the son of Aga Khan, billionaire and spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. Aga Khan’s sizable fortune is estimated to be 9 billion pounds.
Prince Hussain and Princess Khaliya met when they were both studying at Columbia University. Princess Khaliya was born Kristin White but converted to Islam for her marriage in September 2006 and adopted the new name. The 2006 wedding was held at the Chateau of Chantilly outside Paris and was a traditional Muslim ceremony. A private civil ceremony followed the traditional one. For her marriage, Princess Khaliya wore a traditional ivory and gold dress and adorned her hair with jewels. Further celebrations after the ceremony were held at Aga Khan’s estate Aiglemont, in Gouviex.
Reports of the couple’s divorce comes just a few days after Prince Hussain’s older brother, Prince Rahim, married his American girlfriend, Kendra Spears. Prince Rahim’s wedding was held at the Chateau de Bellerive in Switzerland overlooking Lake Geneva. Kendra Spears is an American model who has worked for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Louis Vuitton. The mole on her upper lip has earned her comparisons to Cindy Crawford. Kendra’s new title after her marriage is Princess Salwa.
